Apollo

Mission

Apollo approached us with a simple goal. We want to design features to maximize app retention.

Background

They were already a successful company with smart experienced people. They were doing all the right things but wanted an external company to help infuse a fresh perspective on their space. Apollo is a wearable device that gives off subtle vibrating pulses that are designed specifically to calm the nervous (there’s a better word for it) system. The results of wearing this device is most consistent when wearing it for at least 30 minutes a day for 21 days. In other words, it’s not a short term pay off. We needed to teach users about:

  • The importance of wearing the device for that duration.

  • Track thier progress towards thier goals.

  • Keep them motivated to keep using it.

Research

A lot of research had already been done. Both with the existing app and doing clinical trials with the wearable itself. Dr David. Had a proven practice. He pattented his unique wearable and had done a lot of clinical research to prove that his methods worked. He needed to being his approach to the masses and complete with a quickly growing mindfulness space.

Education

Make Dr Dave have a presence within the app. Use Dave’s social media success to capitalize on the credibility of the platform. This will personify the app and give it unique competitive advantage over other apps.

Day & Night… Onboarding to understand users needs.

Education

According to Dr Dave. Users need to wear the device during the day and at nighht to get the full benefits. This however poses a significant problem, Battery life. How would we be able to teach users to habitually wear the device during the day and night, without disrupting their routines to charge the device.

Solution

The answer was to identify the primary problems users were facing that made them come to Apollo. They were:

  • Sleep issues

  • Anxiety issues

Day & Night… Although using the device during the day and night were both important, we would allow users to pick their primary need and customize their prescribed schedule to solve for it.

  • Prescriptive… exactly what Dr. Dave would do.
